Shelby is the daughter of a corporate family, the owners and proprietors of Watkins Ice Cream. She has a crush on Tyler.

The Dino Charge Pink Ranger Key is Shelby’s personal ranger key. The key is used by Amelia Jones (Dino Fury Pink Ranger), Who uses it to fight as the Dino Charge Pink Ranger.

- The first casting sheet revealed that Shelby's original name was Sarah. This name would later be used for the next Pink Ranger.
- She is the first and only Pink Ranger on a dinosaur-themed team to have a Triceratops motif.
- She is the first to be the only female Ranger in a five-man team, as with most Super Sentai shows.
- Shelby is the first Pink Ranger not to work with a Yellow Ranger, And later succeeded by Amelia Jones from Power Rangers Dino Fury.
- What happened to Shelby's mother is unknown.
